Looks like strong winds, maybe a twister, hit the area near Highway 21 just south of Double D.
I couldn't see any structures damaged, but there were a lot of trees down and debris blown all the way into the median.

That's what must be to blame for this unseasonably cool weather, huh? LOL.
Possibility of sleet was predicted, but I didn't see any - though we weren't up all night. Gentle rain falling on the hacienda now.
We spent a lot of time spreading mulch over the newly sprouted beans and such, to save them from being beaten to death by falling ice. I'm glad it wasn't needed, although the kids sure would like to see weather weirdness.

So many visitors from interesting places. I'd love it if you posted in the comments where you're from, and how ya got here.
----------
So busy [sigh]. It's spring, and that means extra chores, what with stuff growin'. There aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done sometimes, know what I mean?
----------
At the Hard Copy board, all the old posts on the page disappeared and it started over with a clean slate. That's a Very Good Thing; it was getting quite difficult to sort wheat from chaff.
----------
Gorgeous weather. Enjoy it! I'll be making a couple posts later on with news, opinion and gossip.

It's gonna be pretty cold tonight and every night this week comin' up.
Don't make Phideaux and Fluffi suffer outdoors. Man's Best Friend and your feline both deserve a spot by the hearth.

Will be back posting Sunday [tomorrow].
Hope y'all are having a nice weekend, and stay safe through the storms tonight :-).

Hard to figure out to wear when there are such disparate weather reports. Both are screenshots from today, early a.m. Note the temperatures:

... though the rest of the U.S. hasn't been so lucky.
Near as I can figure, it got down to the mid-30s last night. Still, I hope y'all let Fluffi and Fideaux sleep indoors. It was mighty chilly.

Prepare for the worst - even though it's only a 30% chance. And don't leave Fideaux or Fluffi outdoors Tuesday night.

... though we've got another cold spell headed our way. Down to around 30 at night in a few days.
Wild azaleas in the woods are budding, and trees are beginning to leaf out. It's the middle of January, and they're acting like it's March. I saw many big tulip poplars that Katrina laid down still alive :-). We have a horizontal forest.
It will be a shame if a hard frost kills the tender new growth - especially for trees and shrubs that are still trying to recover from the storm's battering.
I took cuttings of the azalea. If I can't enjoy it in the woods this year, I'll see some blooms near my desk.
Could be worse. Dallas-Ft. Worth has an ice storm warning goin' on.

Heavy thunderstorms this a.m., even some tornado warnings.
Probably got windy enough to knock down some of the "leaners" and "hangers."

I asked; I received :-).
Rained cats and dogs at the hacienda yesterday. Scads of lightning and thunder, too.

Tropical Storm Chris fizzled. Can't say I'm sorry, except that more rain would've been nice.
Every afternoon the humidity climbs until the air's like microwaved cotton. The sky clouds up. And usually, we get no rain.
I'm too busy to sift through the reams of data at the National Weather Service and try to figure out if we're still in a drought condition, or if we made up enough rainfall to be back to normal.
But it feels drier than usual to me, for what that's worth. Spots on my property which were often boggy last year, are not. And I'm still watering the landscaping.
Anybody out there know a rain dance?

The area enjoyed more rain today.
According to the Washington Parish Government site today [see link at left], there is no burn ban.

Some areas have had rain in the past week.
Heck of a storm near us day before yesterday - high winds, plenty of rain.
Scorching hot temps - 95 today. Be careful out there!
